Feisty women, have you ever said, “If you’re not listening, you are not learning.”? I had a former teacher colleague who said this to students who needed a reminder about paying attention. The same words are very important to follow today in our world of alternate facts and inaccurate truths that we hear today. Always listen to many sources and learn the truth after sifting through the “facts.” We all need to learn about our world every day, to listen, and to speak the truth always. The truth will always be there, if we only listen.
A Chance to Rewind
Feisty women, have you ever said to someone, ”rewind”?
I had a teacher friend who said this to her students whenever they said unkind words to each other or whenever they play a selection of music in a less than stellar manner. Sometimes our words just come out wrong the first time, so instead of being offended or argumentative, just say “rewind” and give that person a chance to restate their words. Maybe they were having a bad day, too. Everyone in her classroom knew that they could always “rewind” and did often ask for a rewind. Now, if some of the adults in the world today did a “rewind,” maybe we could all get along together a bit better!
Just Ask Elizabeth: National Auntie's Day
Dear Elizabeth,
I think that we need a national “Auntie’s Day” to celebrate all the aunties, like me, who are always there for nieces and nephews. Your thoughts?
Wondering in Wilton
Dear Wondering in Wilton,
The world in fact does celebrate “Auntie's Day” every year on July 26th. Who knew?
Melanie Notkin, the founder of Savvy Auntie, created the holiday to celebrate the special relationship between aunts and their nieces and nephews. This day honors women who are aunties by relation and aunties by choice. I have not seen any cards for this special day anywhere, so I will be reaching out to Hallmark shortly. Mark your calendars, feisty women. Aunties need to spread the word about their special day, too.
Aunt Elizabeth ;)
On Starting Right Now
Feisty women, have you ever said, ”You can’t succeed if you don’t start!”?
I said this to my students often and to myself as well, as they groaned at the prospect of a new project, which they later really enjoyed, or as I put off starting a book or a business. Just get in there and do what needs to be done. Once you start, no telling what you can do. Just get at it, feisty women.
The world does need us and our great ideas to change the lives of feisty women everywhere.
Be the positive change needed by many people. Start right now!
Just Ask Elizabeth - Dealing With Money Talk
Dear Elizabeth,
I have a friend who is obsessed with money; whatever she has is never enough. What can I say to her to stop her obsession?
Help needed in Harrisburg
Dear Help needed in Harrisburg,
I know a lot of people who are obsessed with money. They always want more, no matter what!
I just listen try not to comment on or discuss money with them. Instead, I focus on the “riches” that I already have in my life. Great health, great children, great family all are the “riches” that we really need in life. Yes, prices are high on somethings, but what price can you place on the good things in your life? Always remember to appreciate the “riches” in your life and you will be happy.

Just Ask Elizabeth - Celebrating New Career Successes
Dear Elizabeth,
I am working hard on a new career path. While there have been many challenges along the way,
I want to also focus on my success and keep moving forward. Any suggestions?
Celebrating Successes in AZ
Dear Celebrating Success in AZ,
Congratulations on a new career path. There are many ways to celebrate your SUCCESS. I use the following:
See your end goal and focus on it. (Writing books!)
Understand all the potential obstacles and learn from them as you move forward. (I will!)
Create a new positive mental picture of what you plan to achieve. (More books!)
Clear your mind of any self-doubt because you can do this. (I know that I can!)
Embrace the challenge or learn new things to promote your business. (Will do!)
Stay on track, no matter what distractions come your way. (Stay focused always.)
Show the world that you can do it! (Two books already published. More to come!)
So always keep moving forward. The world needs feisty women every day to help make our world a better place. Our new businesses may very well do just that!
Treat Other With Kindness
Feisty women, have you ever said, ”When people treat you like they don’t care, believe them”?
Some people seem to be thinking only about themselves and not others. Just think about your recent drive. That car pulling out right in front of you when no one is behind you or that car tailing you? Me first. As I am walking in my development, a car drives very close to me, like they don’t even see me? Me first. I could go on, but you get the idea of what I am talking about. Many people simply do not care about others but we all should.
However, I am finding more and more people treating me, as I walk with my cane, with kindness, opening a door for me, offering to help me with my bags, or letting me in line before them. These people respond to me “thank you” with a “welcome” and a smile. I am pleased when people are kind to me, but is my cane the reason they are acting as they care? We should always care about others, no matter what.
Leave early to be on time so that tailing gating and aggressive driving are not necessary. Build enough time into your schedule to avoid looking like a lunatic. Be a careful and courteous driver. Be kind to those with canes, walkers, and walking sticks.
We have only one life to live, so care about others. That care goes a long way in our world today. Show you care, always, feisty women. Treat all people like they matter because, yes, everyone does matter! The world really needs a lot more of that right now.
